about me

Born in Abadan, Iran, music and dance were important parts of my childhood. I started writing poetry when I was a teenager but left Iran for Germany at the age of 19.

When I got back into playing music as an adult, it was initially in the context of free improvisation only, playing with various musicians and artists. In 1980, after leaving Iran for a second time, I also started to write songs in Persian.

In 1996 and 1997 I wrote 2 pieces in English: Petra's Emotional Journey and Milan the Timeless Traveller. Both contain spoken words and songs.

I have had many varied interests in the past and tend to write only when I am feeling inspired. This does not guarantee what is seen as success by many in today's societies, but it has ensured that despite the impermanence of my interests, I have managed to maintain my identity as an improviser; an improviser of my life trying to float on the waves of the unceasing cosmic music.

Some of my work can be read in Gahnameh, Exiled Writers' Ink publications, Crossing the Border (an anthology, Five Leaves Publications 2002) and on Iranian.com.
